Retired from England Brothers department store, the family business in 1977 after 25 years as its President.

England Brothers was a leader in retail for generations starting in 1857 and closing on January of 1988.

Under his leadership, England Brothers expanded in 1968 to the Allendale Shopping Center in Coitsville and expanded into North Adams in 1976.
